Happy Thanksgiving!

It was a fun Thanksgiving. We cooked and are now awaiting cooling pies (recipe circa 1959), not to mention stomach space for said pies.

There are two new family members at my house these days. First is Snickers, a long-haired Chihuahua I inherited from one of my students. Snickers had a tough time living in an apartment and was causing quite a bit of stress for her young owners, eating things like carpets and woodwork. Here, she gets to go outside all day, play with the corgis and cats, and do lots of appropriate canine activities. She had to learn to be a dog, but now that she has, she is on her way to ruling the roost.

The other new addition arrived today. His name is Whoopy, a silly but appropriate version of his registered name, Zhane's Last Hurrah. He is a 3/4 Arabian, 1/4 Quarter Horse gelding, a youngster of a mere three and a half years. However, he is a very mellow boy. We had a great first afternoon. I got my first horse kiss. In fact, Whoopy did a great imitation of a Laborador Retriever. I'm not entirely sure he is a horse, though the pictures seem to confirm it.

Whoopy was started this summer. He has a great, floaty trot and is a willing, if as yet inexperienced, riding partner. We will be taking a bunch of lessons and I am anticipating loads of work, but hopefully loads of fun to go with it.

We are a thankful bunch here and here's hoping everyone else's holiday was at least as blessed.
